Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. Her work has been featured on over 20 albums of studio work. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk rock and alternative rock but has additional influence from hip beat and jazz. Ani Difranco is believed to be a feminist legend as well as a Grammy award winner. As one of first female artists in the 1990s, DiFranco founded her own label. DiFranco has two daughters: Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced in The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is Italian origin, while her mother hails from Montreal. Ani diFranco composed and sang the song 32 Flavors. The song was featured on her album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in 1995. A variation of the song is featured in the soundtrack to the 1999 Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it became known that she was hosting a 3-day workshop in a Louisiana ex-slave plantation. It was postponed however, certain (including the newspaper) failed to see it as a sign of regret. DiFranco offered an apology only a few days later. While she is known for her role as Little Peoplesinger, she has been in contact with a myriad of musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D up to Prince. New Orleans is her home.
